College life

So far the college life is going well.  I don't like being gone from the family two nights a week and having to devote nearly all of every weekend to homework, but this too shall past :)

Kevin & the kids have been GREAT!  It's been good for them to have some 'daddy' time.  Dr. Mom has done a wonderful job holding down the fort and making things as easy as possible for me.  I sure do appreciate all of them <3

I found out last night that I got 100% on my first assignment!  So, I'm pretty stoked about that.  It was also neat that the professor responded to my assignment with, "Great work!  Are you sure you shouldn't be training for counseling instead?"  I thought I'd included my plans to go for my Master's in Counseling once I receive my Elem Ed degree, but I went back and read my introduction & I had not.  Pretty cool.

Kyra lost her first tooth!!

Kyra lost her first tooth early Saturday morning. :D

She was SO excited!  Emma, on the other hand, was not so excited.  She'd wanted Kyra to wait until her tooth got looser, so they could lose them at the same time (they had the exact same tooth loose).  But, alas, Kyra's came out first.  Emma's is probably a few days behind :)

Our vacation

I'm posting some pictures of our trip to Texas at the end of July :)

Health updates

Miss Kyra visited her pediatric neurologist at St Louis Childrens last month and things are looking great!  The mass is still there, but a bit smaller and is no longer causing her spinal cord to curve out!!  The mass does make her more prone to headaches and neck injuries, so there are certain things we try to avoid that can cause flare ups, but otherwise things look great!

Miss Olivia visited her pediatric cardiologist at St Louis Childrens this month and we're facing the possibility of another surgery.  However, it is a very minor one.  Because she's so active it sounds like her body didn't fully form a scar tissue layer around her pacemaker.  She's having some stabbing pains that are believed to be pulling on the scar tissue she does have and this is allowing the pacemaker to shift and move.  We're attempting to cut her activities down in hopes that the scar tissue will form, if it does not, they'll have to go back in and 'tack' the pacemaker down so that it stays in one place.

Mr. Harrison had his left ear tube removed on Aug 9th and has already had another silent ear infection and partial perforation.  We're waiting to hear from his ENT to see what the next step is, but I'm sure we'll end up replacing the tube.

Everyone else is healthy and well and we are SO thankful for that!!

I'm not the only one...

who is ready for back to school!  I just cannot believe how quickly the summer has flown by!  I've neglected my blog all summer so I have lots of catching up to do.  We made a return trip to Corpus Christi (as well as Port Aransas, San Antonio and Padre Island).  We had another AMAZING time and took lots of pictures that I will soon be sharing :)

Anyway, back to the subject.  School.  Yes, it's school time again.  Tomorrow is the first day and I just can't believe how quickly the kids are growing up!  This year I will have a 9th grader, 6th grader, 4th grader, two 2nd graders and a Kindergartener.  Yes, there will be tears shed.  Me, not them.

Back to School, Back to School....

to prove to Dad I'm not a fool!

Yes, that's right folks.  I'm going back to school!  It's been a long time coming.  It's so hard to believe that I've been out of school for 13 yrs now (boy, oh boy, do I feel OLD!!!)

I'm attending MSU WP and just enrolled for the fall semester.  I'm really excited and very nervous.

The classes I'm taking:

Introduction to Autism
The Language of Music
Fitness for Living
Intro to Psychology
Intro to Business (this one will change if my math class opens back up! It had one seat left and by the time we got to enrollment it was filled, but they are anticipating some drops)

The first step is obtaining my Associate of Arts in Teaching.  Then, I'll get my Bachelors in Elementary Education with an emphasis on Middle School and English. The final step will be to obtain my Masters in School Counseling.
